Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Our first Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep session was a really tough for us emotionally. We really didn't know what to expect or how we or the family would react to the situation. One of the baby's aunts found us through the participating photographer guide on the NILMDTS site. That family member was unaware that we personally knew the mother but when she told the mother our name she was instantly happy that it was us.

When we got the call, we went straight to the hospital with all of the needed equipment in hand. Autumn was born living and it was a joy to get to be with her and her family, even knowing that it may not last long. There were probably twenty-five family members present in that hospital room and there wasn't one dry eye in the whole group including Kristy and myself! We took a good number of shots with Autumn's parents Chris and Melissa, and with her big sister Mayla. We were also able to get shots with each family member holding baby Autumn. Autumn was also christened while we were there at the hospital and we were able to capture this ceremony for the family.

Autumn Rose Smith was born on September 18, 2008 at 1:36PM in Bradford, Pennsylvania. She weighed 4 pounds and 6 ounces and measured 18 inches long. She was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 before birth and lived for only a few short days. Autumn passed away on September 20, 2008 at 10:05PM at the Buffalo Children's Hospital in Buffalo, New York. She will never be forgotten and will always be remembered and cherished through the love and memories of her wonderful family and also through the loving portraits that we were able to capture on her birthday. If you would like to make a donation in her name to the Trisomy 18 Foundation or to the NILMDTS organization... please visit the web sites and do so today. Also, if you know of any family that might need our NILMDTS portrait services, please tell them about us and let us know if we can help. The portrait sessions are completely free of any charge whatsoever, and a CD or DVD with all of the full resolution proofs is presented to the family a day or two after the session.

We will never forget the beautiful little angel, Autumn Rose Smith, and our first NILMDTS session.
